Tips for Selling Homes in the Winter Time in Silicon Valley!

Here are a few tips from the Boyenga Team for selling during the winter time. #1- If possible have photographs of the home during spring bloom or different times of year when there is more color.  In the #2 - Stay away from religion specific staging/decorations, but stacked fresh wood in the fireplace, candles, and fluffy throw blankets can add warmth to a winter ambiance. #3 - Don't get discouraged.  The open houses and showings will be lighter and days on the market may be longer, but there are less properties to compete against.   #4 - Winter is party time, so showcase the opportunities for entertaining in the home with an enticing display. Set out stacks of plates and fresh flowers on a dining room buffet or display holiday cookies on cake stands in the kitchen. #5  Winter showings are often done after dark because of Daylight Savings, so make sure that you or the stager add extra lighting to the rooms so that the house feels warm, bright and inviting, not dark and c

Moving Musts: Shutting Off Utilities:

Image
Every day we turn on lights, wash clothes in electric machines and cook food on gas ranges simply by turning a knob, flipping a switch or pushing a button. Utilities are a modern day convenience that makes life easier, including when it comes time to move. Shutting off those utilities is one of the moving do’s you don’t want to forget about. The key is to get the timing right and follow the proper procedures so you aren’t left without power when you need it.  When to Shut Off the Utilities If you’ve already found another place to live you may be tempted to turn off the utilities at your current home when you set up your new accounts, but this could be a mistake. The utilities will need to be connected for inspections to occur. When you sell a home the buyer is going to have the home inspected, which requires water and electricity (as well as gas if you have it). Landlords will also want to verify that all the systems are working correctly before they release the deposit.

5 HOME STORAGE FEATURES ON EVERY HOMEBUYER'S WISH LIST:

Image
Millennials and Gen Xers, currently the two largest generations of homebuyers, are less interested in accumulating stuff – and storing it “just in case”— than their Baby Boomer counterparts. Today’s homebuyers hate clutter. They want their things accessible but out of sight in efficient storage spaces – not six boxes deep and difficult to find in a dark attic. A  survey  conducted by the National Association of Home Builders found that storage space was one of the top two main themes on new homebuyers’ wish lists – but they aren’t asking for more sheds and larger attics. When it comes to keeping clutter at bay, homebuyers want storage spaces that provide an organized, accessible place for everything. What are ICC MC Numbers and Why Are They Important?

Image
Sometimes it seems like just about anyone can start a company and call themselves “movers”. But aside from scouring Yelp, how can you determine your mover’s credibility? This is where ICC MC Numbers come in. We’ll explain the acronym, and break down why this number is one way to ensure your movers are properly credentialed – and highly experienced! What is ICC MC? The acronym stands for Interstate Commerce Commission of Motor Carrier– the organization which, until 1996, identified and credentialed freight truckers traveling across state lines, a group which includes movers. It primarily served to ensure that fair tariffs and rates were in place and enforced; to place a control on common carriers in a way that would monitor their actions; and to gather information on long-distance carriers to better serve the transportation industry. In 1996 that jurisdiction was transferred to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which is housed in the Department of Transportation.

5 Tips to Help Ease Your Workload When Packing:

You’re standing at the doorway of your closet. Clothes on the racks, shoes on the floor, and a lot to pack in a little amount of time. From the closet to the kitchen, there is a lot of work involved in packing. While this may take a bit of time and effort, the  San Jose movers  at Nor-Cal Moving have found some tips to help ease the workload. Multi-purpose Everything- Use clothes, sock, towels, etc. as packing material for fragile items. This will help alleviate the number of boxes you need and usually work better than paper or other packing materials. Use the Trash Bag Method- While throwing out broken and old stuff is an important part of the process, that’s not what we’re talking about here. Instead of taking all of your clothes off of the hangers, simply put the clothes into a trash bag and tie the top by  the hook.
